I’m slightly missing this stupid, unreliable, rusty thing.
I don’t even know why. The S10 is an infinitely better vehicle that I like way more.
Stockholm Syndrome, maybe?
I do miss the noise though. The S10 will never match it, though the Magnaflow it has doesn’t sound half bad.

There's something about old BMWs. If you liked that one that much, drive one with a stick and you'll be even more hooked

I’m already hooked, a manual one will make it even worse.

A manual bimmer with 8 cylinders would be pretty excellent as well....
Man I wish these were more common and less expensive. If I can save the money, it’ll be tough to choose between one of those, and an actually good E30 or E28 if one shows up.
They’re just all so excellent

The e36 bug is real, even with base spec cars like mine. Theres just something about them.

I probably drive the roughest E36 on Oppo. Bushings worn to hell, 400K km on the shell and powertrain and it still runs like a top. only problems are maintenance related.
How.... Does.. This.. Happen.

Could it be that you miss the revvy engine? That’s my only complaint about the 4.3, after 3500 rpm or so it feels done and wants to fight you for revving it that high. Excellent around town engine, not so great highway engine. At least that’s what it feels like pulling a Silverado.

My friend has an e36 with 400k kms as well, also runs perfectly. It could use bushings, but he gave it better shocks/springs which made a difference. His mom has a 318is with 430k kms, that has been perfectly maintained and must've had everything suspension related at some point, it runs and drives perfectly. Old BMWs are awesome if you take care of them

That tends to happen when you go from a sports car to a truck.

It's not even that. In my day to day driving the S10 is genuinely more entertaining, especially with the third pedal.

This is probably mostly it considering I revved the S52 to redline any chance I got. I’m scared to do that with the S10 thanks to my tech teacher telling me his daughter constantly taking his Blazer up to high revs is what spun a rod.

They ooze enough charisma to nearly make you ignore the fact that they're constantly breaking something in some form.

Mine is the simplest form of e36 so hopefully shes a bit more reliable... hopefully.

they indeed are. but just to pass provincial safety, I need at least $500 in parts for my poor thing to pass. Its a bit too expensive for me as of right now, I have to sell it so I can finish my Honda, and get that running up again. I got countless offers for scrap and ‘recycling’. People... PLIS. and countless lowballers, or others that vanish after I say all the issues are just wear and tear related.

To be fair though, that gives you an excuse to swap in a V8.

Oh balls, that's disappointing. What province needs a safety inspection?

Ontario. theyre also making it a bit tougher to pass starting in July, not the best thing to put my money towards as of right now, so im selling it in hopes I find a good home to someone who can actually ‘finish’ it.

Damn :/ I’m impressed it hasn’t rusted away by now, when I went through Ontario I hardly saw anything older than late 90s.

its quite rusty on certain spots, but nothing terminal, thankfully, doest stop it from being such a blast though.
